On August 18-27, the "Stop Smoking, Start Storytelling!" project took place in the Old Town of Kaunas. This is an Erasmus+ youth exchange aimed at encouraging young people to quit smoking and develop public speaking skills.
The exchange gathered 45 participants from 6 countries: Italy, Portugal, Lithuania, Turkey, Greece and Poland. The youth discussed the reasons why people start smoking and how it can affect their health, videos were created about the consequences of smoking. By sharing their experiences, making presentations, talking to each other, and performing different tasks during the workshop, the participants were encouraged to step out of their comfort zone and thus develop their public speaking skills.
During the project, there was an educational visit to Kaunas city municipality, where young people expanded their knowledge about the capital of culture, science and entertainment and learned about the possibilities offered by Kaunas.
During the cultural evenings, the representatives of the countries had the opportunity to present their culture, traditional dances, music, and food.
During the entire program, the participants prepared for the most important public event about smoking, which took place near the Kaunas Castle: Participants distributed flyers, used the acquired knowledge of public speaking, presented their experiences to passers-by, and created a "Flashmob".
We would like to thank everyone who participated for their activity, positivity, help and desire to improve and learn from each other. We hope to see the faces of the majority again and include them in future projects.
The 4S project is co-financed by the European Union's Erasmus+ program.
